An in-person mixed reality mural located at the Tool of North America office in Santa Monica, CA.
I was commissioned to create an AR iOS application to pair with a garage mural located at the Tool office space. The mural itself was painted by one of Tool's rostered artists, DJ Neff.
Beside the mural, a plaque with a QR code that allows people to download the mobile AR portion of the experience.
The app features three AR filters that bring the mural to life in different ways. The app would use image recognition on the artwork to establish a base anchor. From there, we could utilize other AR functions in the environment once we had placed the scene orientation.
Time Lapse - A full timelapse of the artist creating the mural at this very location.
SpaceBalls - Colorful photoshoot opportunity that interacted with the geometry in the real world.
Enter the Void - A rick and morty styled portal that would result in some trippy artsy "into the window" like effects.
The app allowed for pictures and video recording of the filters and could be easily downloaded and shared on socials.
